SLP Addressing Youth Violence in Schools SL. 

*KISSY DIVISIONAL HEADQUARTERS ENGAGES METHODIST BOYS HIGH SCHOOL AND SIERRA LEONE MUSLIM COMMUNITY SECONDARY SCHOOL PUPILS.*

*On the 27th and 28th of January, 2026, the Support Officer, Superintendent Siaka Kamara, together with a joint team from the Family Support Unit (FSU) and the Community Relations Department, engaged pupils of Methodist Boys High School and Sierra Leone Muslim Community Secondary School, respectively. The engagement focused on school sensitization and awareness raising on violence in and between the two schools.*

*The sensitization exercises were conducted during assembly hours at the respective school premises.*

*According to Superintendent Siaka Kamara, a few days before the engagement, the police received reports from the authorities of Sierra Leone Muslim Community Secondary School that their pupils had been persistently attacked by pupils of Methodist Boys High School. The attacks were allegedly based on claims that SLMC pupils had stabbed a Methodist Boys' High School pupil, who was believed to have died, prompting acts of revenge.*

*However, during the engagement sessions, the Support Officer made it very clear that such allegations were false and baseless, stating that the police had received no report whatsoever regarding any stabbing incident involving a school-going pupil.*

*He strongly warned pupils of both schools to desist from any act or conduct that could lead to violence and cautioned them against taking the law into their own hands. He encouraged pupils to report any incidents of attack or threat to their respective school authorities for amicable resolution, free from fear or harm.*

*Furthermore, Superintendent Siaka Kamara reminded Methodist Boys High School of the Peace Memorandum signed between the school and the Sierra Leone Muslim Congress on 11th November, 2025, at the Tumac Mall, emphasizing the need to uphold peace at all times and resolve differences diplomatically. He cautioned that the said document could be relied upon if the need arises.*

*The Support Officer also educated the pupils on the existence and functions of the Juvenile Court and the Approved School Correctional Centre, which are meant for the trial and detention of minors who engage in criminal activities.*

*ASP Patricia Kobba, Head of Female Personnel, Kissy Division, delivered a short but precise lecture on violence, admonishing the pupils to stay away from it, noting that schools are meant to shape them into responsible and useful citizens of the state.*

*The Head of the Family Support Unit, Inspector Fofanah, also lectured on violence, highlighting its various forms, with particular emphasis on sexual violence, which he described as having the tendency to destroy the future of young boys and girls. He encouraged female pupils to report any form of abuse to their school authorities and to the police through the Family Support Unit.*

*Inspector Umu Yovonie shared similar sentiments and encouraged the male pupils to take their studies seriously and conduct themselves responsibly at all times.*
